Yang Jiakuan, dean of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, professor, doctoral supervisor, Chang Jiang Distinguished Professor of the Minister of Education, expert subsidized by the State Council, director of Hubei Engineering Laboratory of Solid Waste Treatment and Recycling Technology, selected by the New Century Talent Support Program of the Ministry of Education. He received his Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 1999 and was a visiting scholar at the Department of Materials and Metallurgy, University of Cambridge and the Department of Environment and Geography, University of Oxford. He is mainly engaged in the research of solid waste treatment and disposal and resource technology. He is the standing director of the Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences, and a member of the Steering Committee of Environment Education in Higher Education, Ministry of Education. He has obtained five provincial and ministerial achievements, including one First Prize for Natural Science from the Ministry of Education and one First Prize for Science and Technology Progress in Hubei Province.
