Yang Shu, Professor and doctoral supervisor. He graduated from the Department of Geology and Geography of Lanzhou University with a bachelor's degree in 1982, received his master's degree in February 1985, and stayed on the faculty of Lanzhou University in the same year. From August 1988 to October 1991, he worked in the Chinese Embassy in The Soviet Union. After returning to the university, he served as the director of Foreign Affairs of Lanzhou University. From July 1997 to September 2007, he successively served as the deputy secretary of the Party Committee and vice president of Lanzhou University. Since 1996, he has been the director of the Institute of Central Asian Studies at Lanzhou University. His main research areas are Central Asia, anti-secession, anti-terrorism, and geopolitics. He has published more than 150 papers and 14 monographs. He has presided over 5 projects of the National Social Science Fund (including 1 major commissioned project and 2 key projects), 1 major subject bidding project of the Ministry of Education, and more than 10 projects of other ministries and commissions. He is the vice president of the Institute of the History of Sino-Russian RelationsResearch, the senior adviser of the Institute of Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia studies, the executive director of the Center of Shanghai Cooperation Organization Studies, and the consulting expert for several ministries and commissions.
